Continuous Personal Development

I did something a little bit different last weekend and officially ticked off one of my New Year’s Resolutions for 2023, completing a Dog First Aid course!

Bonnie has been a part of our Linley-Old family for over 3 years now and educating myself on doggie first aid (rather than constantly asking Mr Google!) has always been something in the back of my mind to do.

It was a fantastic session at our local village hall run by Jane Chapman from Dog First Aid. I’ve genuinely come away feeling confident that I could handle various first aid situations that Bonnie (or any of her pals!) could find themselves in more effectively.

Whilst my team at IMA-HOME might see this as a scheme I’ve concocted to help persuade them to let me on their upcoming dog shoots…(to them I would say, please see photographic evidence of how great I can bandage Bonnie 😂 and think of how amazing I’d be writing your risk assessments)…I will clearly never replace a professionally trained vet.

What I am doing however is statistically giving my dog a 6% greater chance of surviving a critical emergency situation having this knowledge. Many people might read this and think that 6% is not a lot of difference but if someone gave me a 6% increased chance of saving Bonnie’s life, I’d take it in a heartbeat.

So that’s finally one thing ticked off my personal to do list…time to consider next years plans…
